My name is Tulsa Torres-Moe, and I am 14 years old in 8th grade at Belle Fourche Middle School in South Dakota.

I live on a ranch where we raise hay and cattle.

At our recent science fair, I did a project called ‘The Perfect Stack’.

It was about the best way to stack hay to create the most amount of runoff.

Many farmers in this area were impressed with and interested in my project. I explained to them how it worked, and why the winning hay stack was the best choice.

022513_shredlagepanelHarvesting corn as Shredlage is so new that there hasn’t been time for a lot of research to be conducted. Randy Shaver, with the University of Wisconsin – Madison, has done a few trials but said, “We’re going to learn a lot more from school of hard knocks.”

In 2012, there were approximately 50 choppers in the country equipped for Shredlage. Three of those harvesters shared their experiences at the Vita Plus Custom Harvester Meeting, Feb. 19, in Madison, Wisconsin. Click here or scroll down to view a video of these harvesters.
